A brief history of the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision:

06/26/21

Located at the intersection of North Wood Street and West Carroll Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood, this standard girder bridge crosses Paulina Street.
Built in 1905 as the C&NW raised their tracks through the area, the bridge follows a standardized design, featuring four deck girder spans, set onto steel and stone substructures. Each span is made up of numerous parallel plate girders.
The bridge also consists of a ballasted deck. This deck has been instrumental in keeping the bridge in decent condition.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair condition. Some deterioration has been noted on the bridge.

The author has ranked the bridge as being minimally significant, due to the common design.
